I hope you aren't planning on putting in a bigger breaker because it won't trip and that is why you WILL start a fire when the small 14 gauge wire over heats. Unless it's a dedicated circuit, a 15 amp breaker should be used and 11-12 outlets is usually the norm, but the number of outlets is really irrelevant because you can over load a circuit on a single outlet if you plug in 2 high draw heating devices. You either have to much plugged in to one circuit or possibly you have a weak breaker and it trips to easy. Lights and a fan are peanuts and you can easily have 12 100 watt lights running on one 15 amp circuit. Check what else you have on that circuit. If your ceiling fan is old and hums it could likely draw way more than it should so try having that off and see if the breaker still trips.
