Linegard PGFM Series: The Ideal Ground Fault Interrupter
Just before we focus on the Linegard item, we advise that you get the idea of what a ground fault interrupter is and how it really works. This device is designed to assist you to prevent the risk of electric power leakage. This leakage generally produces hazardous shock. This electronic system will detect any possibly risky and ground faults and remove the energy from the circuit.
A ground fault interrupter (GFI) is commonly set up in laundry room, garage, bathroom and kitchen. If the power leakage occurs, this device will turn off the connected circuit. And often this electric unit is installed on the main breaker box to defend the complete circuit from ground faults.
To explore the performance of this tool and how it operates, just check out the following. A GFI will compare the amount of electric current getting into a circuit (on the black wire) with the amount leaving (on the neutral or red wire). When the circuit gets more current through the phase wire than the level of the current which leaves through neutral wire, a ground fault happens, and thus you just get a current leakage. This product will discover as little as 0.005 amp leakage, and turn off a circuit within 0.025 seconds to avoid serious electrical shocks. For your information, a fault current as low as 4 mA to 6 mA will trigger the GFI and interrupts the circuit.
When you activate this product, the fault condition is overcome. After that, the CFI will manually reset just before power might be restored to the circuit. One more thing, it might be set up at different locations within a circuit.
Then we are going to speak about the Linegard PGFM series specifically to explore the features and performance. This device works with many Airpax LEL and 209 series with 1 to 3 poles, amperages from 1 to 50 Amps, with integral shunt coils. On a ground fault, it actively sets apart the load by using an Airpax hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker (LEL Series) with the integral shunt coil. This ground fault sensing module is made to work with a UL 489 hydraulic magnetic branch circuit breaker. To support the performance, the sensing module of this GFI monitors an electric circuit by an external differential current transformer.
UL (Underwriter Laboratory) 943 listed (GFCIs) features all electrical circuits with voltages from any current-carrying conductor of 125VAC to ground. On the contrary, the UL 1053 compliant (ELCIs) includes other circuits with current-carrying conductors higher than 125VAC. This product features an automatic or manual ‘safe-start’ reset. When it is mounted with the given gasket, the enclosure gets a UL NEMA 4X wet location rating (capable of standing on 600psi of direct water spray and submersion in 6 ft of water for at least 24 hours).
Talking about the uses, this module and breaker system is suitable for portable generator integration which protects all outlets on a generator and meeting the proposed demands for generators under UL standard UL2201 UL/cUL 943 Listed and UL 1053 Compliant.
We advise that you have the Linegard PGFM series to help you secure everyone in your house from the risk of electricity leakage, which is sometimes called as ground fault. That is why this device is termed with ground fault interrupter. You can set up this electric device in your garage, bathroom or kitchen.
It is suggested that you see any related products to ground fault circuit interrupters, such as ground fault breaker before you take any decisions to buy such device. More info can provide you with more ideas to find the best one.
